To Remove And Replace A Rotten Gatepost
Not our usual task but the sort of job we love to problem solve. To remove and replace a rotten gatepost that a gate was fixed to.
The gate weighing roughly 150kg was very heavy and took 2 men to lift.
Then we had to take some of the block paving and aco drains up to make the hole bigger. We dug down 3ft.
We concreted in a new 8 inch by 8 inch wooden post.
In the post we inserted a threaded bar for stregth.
We left it to dry for a few days, hung the gate with a wheel fitted also for support. We then replaced the block paving and aco drains back.
A successful job and the customer was made up.
Note. The before image is of the other gatepost that was already sound. We forgot to take an image of the new gatepost with the gate attached.
